The annual Mekong River Swim is BACK!

MEKONG RIVER SWIM 2011

Sunday 3rd April

We can confirm that the annual Mekong River Swim is BACK!

The site has been confirmed (the Swim will again be held at the Prek Leap Agricutural College, about 6km North of Phnom Penh, over the Japanese Bridge), and SOS Clinic have also confirmed their medical support (ambulance/doctor/nurse on stand-by at the site ... just in case) on the day.

So, apart from marking the date in your diary and seriously thinking about whether you intend to participate in the swim, please could you let The Swim Team know if you would like to join the iCAN British International School team and volunteer at the event. Volunteers can also participate as swimmers.

We will need volunteers to be involved with collating registration forms, ensuring everyone is suitably hydrated on the day (both before and after the swim), marshalling, assisting swimmers as they climb the bank after the swim (always a tricky and strenuous job), timekeeping, recording results, people on the spectator boats to ensure everyone’s having a great time, etc.

If you know you’re going to be in Phnom Penh that weekend and would like to join what promises to be a memorable sporting event, then please e-mail The Swim Team so that we can keep you updated.

You can e-mail The Swim Team at mekongriverswim@yahoo.com

Updates regarding start times and the registration process will be posted here on the blog and also on the Cambodia Parent Network, each week in the run up to the event on Sunday 3rd April 2011.

Thanks for your support!
